Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos
A robot vacuum is the best tool for maintaining the cleanliness of your home. It can remove pet hair, dust and other surface debris before it becomes a bigger problem.
Some robots sync with smart assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Find models that are rechargeable and continue cleaning where they left off.
1. iRobot S8
This smart robot vacuum and mop is a fantastic choice for many homes. It has a great navigation system that incorporates GPS and laser sensors. It also comes with a lot of features and controls accessible via the app. It also comes with a useful feature that lets you add cleaning zones to certain areas that need extra attention and Keep Out zones where you don't want it to be. As with all Roomba devices, it is updated with new software updates that make it even more efficient over time.
It's expensive, but it's is also among the most advanced robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It comes with a powerful battery that can sweep an entire home in less than two hours. It can also switch between vacuuming and mopping at the touch of the button. It will automatically empty the trash bin that is above its charging station, in contrast to other self-emptying robots that require you to empty it after every run.
It also has a number of other options, like intelligent obstacle avoidance, which utilizes a camera along with processor-powered smarts in order to identify obstacles. It rarely gets derailed or trapped during a cleaning cycle, and it's the best at avoiding power cables and other objects I've tested. It's not as reliable in detecting pet waste or other dangers.
2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8
While Anker-owned Eufy has earned a name for itself in budget robot vacuums, it hasn't previously offered an all-in-one model which can also mop. That changes with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive suite of advanced features and is able to compete against more expensive models.
Eufy's main selling point with the X8 is its laser navigation. Previous Eufy devices have created an outline of your home by using infrared sensors and bumping into objects, but the X8's laser mapping technology is much more accurate. It takes less time to create an accurate map of your home. It can also store multiple maps. This is perfect for homes with multiple floors.
The X8 is a decent vacuum cleaner on bare floors. It can easily sling debris through the side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin. Its tyres are adept at hugging edges and corners even though they're circular. Our tests showed that it was able to remove 90% of the fur on hard floors.
There's a basic mopping mode which uses the same water tank as the vacuuming one. This is ideal for spills that are not too serious, but you can't regulate the amount of water it consumes. It does a good job of removing hair from pets. It has a higher pick-up rate than the Roborock S7.
3. Miele RX2
Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, efficient appliances. It is a stunning design, a great navigation system and a powerful cleaning power. However, it has some operational issues that prevent it from being ranked as the best overall
smart robot vacuum.
Like the latest models from iRobot like the RX2 has a dual-sensor mapping system that utilizes the LIDAR sensor to map a room and two 3D scanning cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. After the room has been identified and assigned, you can assign virtual no go areas and favorite sections to the robot. You can also alter the cleaning modes, initiate an automatic clean, or view a live feed of the onboard cameras from the main screen.
The RX2 has superior sensors that detect furniture and other obstructions in a flash. Its sweeping and suction powers are exceptional, getting rid of surface litter from carpets of medium pile and also removing dust that has been deposited on floors. It's not the fastest robotics on the market. It's not the best climber, and it has problems with metal threshold transition strips.
Some people buy robot vacuums due to the ease of setting up a schedule using an app, and then forgetting about them for weeks. It's important for
smart robot vacuum a robot to be capable of doing the job so our ZDNet team has tested and reviewed some of the most popular models in order to help you pick the best one for your house.
4. Shark ION
This budget robovac that looks just like the other, but it has several more features and better performance. Its smart mapping system generates 2D and 3-D maps of your home and uses them to navigate around and stay clear of obstructions. It can even identify common obstacles such as furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors with a bump detector, and an infrared sensor to keep the vacuum off stairs makes it one of our most flexible
vacuums robot.
It was able to walk over carpets with thick shags and didn't get stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigation abilities were also impressive; its composite score in carpet and bare floors was better than the competition, and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface pet hair and litter from our lab test samples.
Its controls are a bit more basic than those of the competitors. There's an oblong cleaning button at the top, and you can start it from the app or by voice command with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, set up no-go zones, and look up the history of cleaning. Ion is clad in a smart dark gray plastic that feels and looks attractive in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easily accessible for emptying, and removing the filters is also easy.
5. Eufy 11S
Eufy 11S is a good choice if you want an automated vacuum cleaner that is simple and doesn't have any frills at a low cost. It isn't equipped with some of the more advanced features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are available in higher-end models however, if you don't require those functions you can save money by purchasing this model.
This robot is simple to set up and use. It does not require a smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does include a remote control which lets you choose between different modes and adjust suction level. It also allows you to manually send the robovac off during scheduled cleaning.
During our tests during our tests, the 11S was extremely efficient in cleaning pet hair and dirt from hard floors and carpets with a low pile. Its slim profile made it easier to reach under furniture and other low items that more bulkier robots couldn't reach. It was also able to easily traverse door thresholds and transition from one type of floor to another.
Like other robots, the 11S can be able to suck up objects, such as cords drawstrings for hoodies, and cat toys. The manufacturer says that you can stop this by keeping these items off the floor and using an organizer for cords if you can. It also suggests that you clean the dustbin, replace the filters, and clean or change the brushes as necessary.
6. IRobot Roomba 990
The Roomba 980 is iRobot's flagship robot vacuum. It's costly however it's an excellent performer and, in some ways, the most advanced robot vacuum you can buy. Its self navigation and environmental mapping are a wonder to behold. It also comes with more advanced automation features than most competitors, including the ability to set virtual boundary markers through its mobile application. Although its app is a little sluggish and the 980 can spin out a bit when moving over cables, it's a highly efficient robot vacuum.
One thing we really like about the 980 is that it makes use of its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to memorise the floor plan of your home. It will use this data to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient robot vacuum than most high-end robots.
The 980's other features include dual multi-surface rubber brushes that pick up dirt from carpet and hard floors and a spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The sensor for floor tracking helps it navigate between furniture as well as along edges and steps. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It also automatically returns to its base station for hassle-free recharges between sessions. Although the 980's battery life and bin size aren't as good as those of some other robot vacuums,
smart robot vacuum it's a reliable and solid machine that can keep your floors spotless for hours at a time.
