It is also simple to reprogram the machine to brew the exact size drink you want. This is a fantastic feature for busy families.

Simple to use

The basic black Nespresso machine is easy to operate and maintain. It is minimalist and simple in its design with a single button on top that controls everything from powering to rinsing to making coffee. Open the lid, insert the capsule inside and press to begin brewing. It is quick to heat up and offers a variety of drinks such as double espresso, or five 8 or 18-ounce coffees. It even comes with a steaming wand for adding a cafe-style milk texture to your drinks. We like the compact design and simple interface, however, we noticed that the machine didn't produce as rich a coffee or espresso as some of the more expensive models. It's also not as simple to recycle the capsules as some other machines we've tested. Because of this, Nespresso isn't one of the top choices for our test of side-by-side.

Quick to brew

We tried almond, whole and 2% milks and all worked well.

Easy to clean

It's important to clean the Nespresso machine regularly, both inside and out. This will ensure that the machine is in good order and ensure its security. This also improves the taste of your coffee. There are a variety of cleaners to clean the inside of a Nespresso using vinegar, for example. However, it's recommended to make use of a descaling solution instead, as vinegar can be damaging to the machine.

To clean your Nespresso machine, take out all pods. Clean the drip tray and the capsule container. Then you can fill a sink or large bowl with warm water and add a few squirts dish soap. Let the drip tray or container soak for a few moments in the soapy solution to loosen any stain or gunk. Rinse the drip tray and capsule container using hot water. Then you can use a nonabrasive fabric or sponge to remove any stains or residues. After scrubbing, wash the drip tray and the capsule container once more and allow them to dry completely before returning them to the machine.

Once your machine is clean, it's time to descale it. You can follow the instructions in your user's manual to follow a specific procedure. In other cases, you can make your own DIY descaling solution by using white vinegar or citric acid. If you are using vinegar, make sure that it's white vinegar, not balsamic or apple, because they're too abrasive.
