The upgrading of your items is a vital part of equipping your character. Upgrades increase the damage of your item and enhancements.
They also offer bonuses and enhancements. They are available through the Blacksmith.
The upgrade button is located on any item. Every recycled
item upgrader kit adds one level to the gauge for upgrading.
Weapon
If a weapon is upgraded, it gets an initial damage bonus as well as an adjustment factor that affects other stats. Some upgrade components have aesthetic effects while others give additional features. These upgrades can be put into weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools. Most require the equipment to have an upgrade slot available and meet certain requirements. If a weapon piece features an upgrade component within it, the
item upgrade can be upgraded with a different one, but the previous upgrade will be destroyed (except for legendary equipment and upgrades). Upgrade components can be found using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, Ascended Salvage tool, or high-tier salvaging tool that is attached to an

In addition to the standard upgrades, a weapon may be upgraded using a Calibration Attribute that improves certain stats such as Weakspot Damage or Crit Rate. This is accomplished through the Gear Workbench interaction menu. Based on the level of the weapon, this can be done up to four times.
Once the weapon is at max upgrade, it can be rebuilt using a variety of different upgrade types to boost specific stats or to add bonuses and effects. Several of these upgrades can be re-applied simultaneously, and the effects are based on the nature of the weapon.
There are two Blacksmiths in the game who can perform these upgrades: Blacksmith Hewg in the Church of Elleh hub area, and Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor Site of Grace. The upgrade materials are both different: Smithing Stones to modify the type of damage that a weapon deals and Somber Smithing Stones to modify standard weapons.
It is generally recommended to increase the damage of your weapon first, followed by armour defense, then the other secondary stats as required by your build. It is not uncommon to see melee Druids upgrade their weapons prior to upgrading other gear. This can help increase DPS. This is particularly applicable to enchantments that enhance a weapon's stats and damage.
Armor
Item Upgrades let players enhance the performance of certain weapons, armors trinkets, trinkets, or gathering tools. These upgrades can also give additional effects, such as an increase in damage or a cosmetic enhancement.

Armor can be improved by visiting the Armorer NPC, and spending the appropriate currency. Most of the time, a piece of armor can be upgraded to the next tier once an upgrade is applied. The majority of armor upgrades provide some improvement to an item's defense base or strength. However, some upgrade components can offer significant increases to defense or strength, particularly when upgrading an epic item.
Certain upgrades grant special abilities which can be activated while wearing armor. These abilities can prove useful in combat. For instance they can boost the speed of attack or block. Certain upgrades also offer passive effects, like cutting down on the amount of damage that is taken while wearing armor or adding a chance to dodge attacks.
Upgrades to armor could require several attempts, depending on the type. If a player wants to upgrade Steelclash armor to Dragonscale The first attempt will result in a brand new Dragonscale armor with the defense base ranging from 59 to 67. The second attempt would result in a new Dragonscale armor that has the base defense between 67 and 77 and the list goes on.

Contrary to popular opinion, armor in The Division 2 is not in any way useless. Some armors offer a significant boost to the reduction of damage from poison, curse, magic, or fire. This makes them very valuable for certain builds. There are also ways to boost armor stats beyond the use of upgradeable armor such as the engineer trait to increase armor penetration or the challenger trait to reduce total weight.
Potion
A potion can be upgraded by putting it in the brewing stand to unlock new effects. The upgrade unlocks a brand new level of potion effects, and can be repeated to unlock more potency levels.
The potion also gets an individual color code, which the player can select via /give, and that can affect the area-of-effect clouds as well as arrows produced by the potions. In Bedrock Edition the custom potion color is also applied to the particle effects of the potions.
The water bottle, mundane, thick and awkward potions now have a brand new texture for brewing. In the Creative Inventory potion healing and weakness have been added. Addition of lingering potions, that can be prepared by using Dragon breath or splash potions. Also included is a potent potion that has the status effect of Mining Fatigue. Trinket
A trinket can be a small, inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It could be a ring, necklace or even a small flag to identify a vessel's yard that is lateen. It could also refer to a gilded trinket on the mast of a vessel.
This macabre trinket is believed to be influencing the residents of this maze, making them more common. At present, this trinket makes all types of mimic Xx more popular, and gives each floor a Y% chance to have an ebony-colored mimic. Upgrades to this trinket cost a moderate amount energy.
The magic from this enchanted scepter seems to influence the dungeon which makes it more likely to generate water and grass. This trinket at the current level, will cause X% of the regular floors to be filled with grass or water. It will not affect glyphs, enchantments or cursed weapons or armor, or items that are generated to help solve the dangers in rooms.
The item, which appears like eyes of a newt is believed to affect your vision in a manner that goes beyond merely reducing your field-of-view. At the moment, this trinket can increase the total health benefits of drinking potions of healing, waterskins, and wells of health by X% and gives you eyesight on enemies within Y tiles. This trinket is not stacked with the Increased Senses.
Skull Cavern is where you will find Trinkets after you have completed the Mastery Cave. You can find them by defeating Monsters, and in chests and crates. They aren't found in the Mines or Volcano Dungeon.
Place the trinket into the Anvil when it needs to be upgraded. This will have an effect on the trinket that will either enhance or intensify its effects. You can reforge the trinket as often as you like however it will always be able to produce the same effect.
You can also enhance your Trinkets by placing them in a Magical Catalyst at the Alchemy Station. This will cost you 6 energy and increase the power of the trinket by only a tiny amount.
