item upgrades upgrading (
historydb.Date)
item upgrade upgrading allows players to increase the gear score of an
item upgrade up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you bring them to the kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For example the perfect rolled breakpoint armor used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons aren't changed much after an upgrade, and aren't worth the cost.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can boost their numerical stats, such as attack damage, crit probability and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus which increases the damage they deal per second. Some weapons also come with a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are used in a single unit. In some instances, this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage that a weapon is able to upgrade by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity as well as its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a gun will increase until it needs more Smithing Stones. At that point it will reset to one.
The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. This is usually a positive factor, but it could also have negative effects. Upgrades can make things inaccessible, unless you're very lucky.
Upgrades can be made to armor items to increase their stats. This will increase the base defense of a chest or helm as well as belts and gloves. These will boost their required strength and agility. Armor also offers the option of rerolling its Enhanced Defense%, meaning that it may reroll to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats that it will get when upgraded, along with their respective values. This means that the weapon will gain 3% attack damage if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% difference does not mean that the weapon will hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.
A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button, which is accompanied by circling arrows in the
item upgrades menu. This will reroll the
item level upgrade and alter its stats however, it will not reset the weapon's level or connect to the status of your account.
Armor
A few upgrades to your armor can make the world of difference to your survival. Certain sets provide massive increases in poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which makes it easier to navigate through tough terrain. In general, the more defense you have on your character, the more health you'll gain from each point. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a specific side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed the main quest and the associated fountains, you'll have the option of talking to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
The amount of materials needed to upgrade each piece of armor will differ. In general, you'll be looking at anywhere between three Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the first upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. The Champion Leathers, for example can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which allows you to remain competitive in frigid environments with a lot of enemies. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded as high as +20 defense to ensure you can survive a raid with friends.
You can't upgrade armor like weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior it is best to focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or the power of spells. It's also worth saving your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll wear at the end of the game, such as the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield, or the helmet you use for the final boss battle and the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town and you will be able to unlock perks for your armor. Generally, you'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll use to win the game like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have some upgrades to your chest armor and helmets that let you stealthy battle some monsters.
Potions
Potions are substances in bottles that, when consumed give the player the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five types of potions, each with particular effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to increase their effectiveness. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by adding glowstone dust and redstone.
Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount XP. This can be obtained by crafting them on a crafting table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades changes depending on what kind of potion you wish to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potions, right-click it in your inventory. Select "Upgrade" from the menu. This opens a GUI where you can choose the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they will give you when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at a time, and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.
Once a poton is upgraded in quality, it will not deteriorate in the event that you use it again or break the bottle within the container it is kept. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to rename it.
Version 1.7.2 introduced a few modifications to the way potions are used. For example, splash potions now have an average duration of 0.08 seconds (this is not the equivalent of 22.5 seconds shown on the hover display for the item). The table for potion can now be crafted with four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be used by players in Survival and Bedrock. Contrary to Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be combined in cauldrons. Similarly, using a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the contents and replenishes the bottle.
In addition, there are lingering potions that are made using dragon breath and splash potions. Redstone is also added to lingering potions to extend their effect. The table of potion ingredients has been rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added such as the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket is a small and affordable ornament or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to a small ornament or object that serves a function but isn't important, like a Thimble. In some cultures, trinkets are used to symbolize friendship or affection, especially between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players can upgrade their trinkets. These can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate amount in currency. Trinkets like other items that can be upgraded can be swapped at will without losing stats.
The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and in the capital of each zone, as well as in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are bought with tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.
The upgrade of a trinket can be a cost-effective alternative to purchasing new ones. A player can upgrade a trinket with as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will feature the same base ilvl as the previous one, and will come with an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
Once the old Trinkets have become no longer useful, they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase both their power and value over time. They can be traded between players and are a viable alternative to gold.
In general, players should upgrade their most important items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are first upgraded then their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment that won't replace anytime soon (such as a ring or an cloak). It is also important to consider your class's preferred stats when deciding which items to upgrade. For example If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank, they should prioritize upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest.
Trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level once they're no longer needed and the new trinket will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus. However, a re-upgrade will cause the trinket to be destroyed until it is salvaged using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than buying new ones.
