Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and equipment with new affixes, increasing its base stats or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory as well as access to the kiln.

Items with weak bases, such as rings, can be upgraded into more robust bases. Items with bases that are strong, such as Titans from eth, have no change in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons and gathering tools. They can be used as an attribute bonus, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward from missions or chests. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before you can upgrade.

To upgrade a weapon, armor or other item in the game, players will need to select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview of the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.

There are three types that are universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that have a type restriction. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix at the end of the names of items. For example the addition of a Glyph would make a staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool and replaces the glyphs with a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, except for inscribed glyphs that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in some key ways. Gear is now divided into tracks and items can be upgraded a set number of times before being "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials required for upgrades do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several items.

When an item is leveled out in this way, it is able to receive a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as the Artisan’s Energy and it resets at 0 if the upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece is upgraded to the maximum level, it will be able to receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the type of item it is. For example, a rare or unique weapon with a base that is normal will have only two affixes to choose from, whereas a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes available for it.

Each upgrade step requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level and in what slot it is placed in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the Best item upgrader with a new set or upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of materials, though it will result in a lower chance of success.

To measure the height of a building, engineers will utilize a level to compare the measurement against an established reference point such as a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This method is known as a "level loop." This involves taking readings using the level, backsighting rod and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high degree of precision and security.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of altering an item's upgrade components. It is an essential aspect of the game that can increase the damage, strength or other attributes. This can be accomplished through the item level upgrade menu or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling an item can be costly and should be used sparingly.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade the original item or another item upgrader mod of the same type. Recyclable items come with a level gauge that shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.

Prior to this, certain upgrade items were given priority affixes, which made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build often than other items. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed, and all upgrades have the same chance of rolling each statistic. This can be a good or a negative thing depending on your requirements and expectations from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can also have a unique bonus that increases the item's power by a fixed percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are added to the regular affixes. The more you improve an item upgrader kit, the better your chance of getting the bonus of your choice.

The game also comes with number set that grants a bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on an item. This is a good method of giving a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.

Many players have the habit of rerolling their weapons and gear, especially in the early stages. This is because rerolling can offer a quicker path to a powerful character which allows them to achieve higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be arranged differently. They can be of various sizes, contain no elements at all or contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or to sort information. They can also be used for analyzing patterns. Sets can be categorized in several ways, including by size and shape.

There are many set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that provide high defense and set bonuses. However, upgrades to weapons typically do not improve the item's stats much in comparison to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you already have lots of armor pieces or weapons.

Some set items are upgraded for their own unique functions, which can be particularly useful in some builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are examples of this. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Upgrades are also possible to bring certain items to parity with the levels. For instance the Immortal King set has a vast range of levels, ranging between 29 and 76. Upgrading lower-level set items can boost their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item and the required items to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its features, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternately, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the requirements for upgrading specific items.

In general the jewelry and weapons have more value for trade when they are fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs for spells or weapons, upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will result in a significant improvement in their stats. Armor that has an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade because its defense will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
