In contrast to other robovacs we tested, the i3+ EVO comes with a self-emptying bin that dumps debris into an external dirt compartment on the base of its charging when it's full. This makes it easier to maintain the unit and also helps prevent the i3+ EVO from overfilling, but it must be manually empty after each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO dustbin can hold 2.4L which will last for four to five cleaning sessions.

Similar to the i7, this model also uses the latest floor sensors to create maps and navigate neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only keep one map, whereas the i7 is able to store multiple. The i7's map is used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones, but not for the i3+ EVO.

The i3+ EVO does a better job of removing debris from the surface compared to some other robovacs we've looked at, but it's not the best in cleaning edges and corners. It's also not as gentle on furniture, despite being fairly quiet. It was a bit rough on furniture as it forced chairs away. It also caused collisions against the sides of the bed.

2. Black & Decker Q5 Pro

If you're looking to expand your collection of robot vacuum deals vacuums or are just starting out using one, the Q5 Pro is a great choice. The 240-minute runtime is very generous compared to others we've tested. If the battery is empty it returns to its dock and automatically recharges, before starting cleaning where it left off. You can control the Q5 Pro using the app or voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

This is the first robot we've seen that incorporates 3D mapping. This along with other advances, helped it perform exceptionally well in our tests for vacuuming and mopping tests. It is possible to schedule cleanings and create no-go zones. You can also view the status of your battery. The app is easy to use, but it doesn't support Apple HomeKit which is slated to be added by 2025. As of early November, Apple has updated a footnote on its website to reflect that the feature will be delayed until 2025.
