WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an
item level upgrade by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.
Upgraded gear generally sees higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for those with higher variance due to the need to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The
Best item upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool with an The button will show the preview of an item's next level of upgrade, when there are enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the
Item Level Upgrade and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.
Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon as well as the possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require various methods which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This is true even if the items are from an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a few options. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to note is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and easiest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, contingent on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of
upgrade item for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the
Best item upgrader equipment you have and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
