automatic hoover can mop and
vacuum mop cleaner robot without needing your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in an additional bin located at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful
robot vacuums with mop vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also extremely quiet and works when you're at work or in school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it will cost you more and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house depending on how dirty the areas tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. Additionally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've tested. It also has an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
