1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. Both robots do well cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they're excellent in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ doesn't have obstacle avoidance capabilities like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have tested. It can get stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between surfaces, such as hardwood and rug.

iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it might come across. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter clear to avoid getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station's external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning from where it began. Battery life is about an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is the top rated Robot vacuum model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with the most recent features. It's self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot with voice or via the app.

In our testing the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin that eliminates a major cause of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and sweep a specific space. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+, for example "Hey Alexa robotic vacuum cleaner sale the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with cordless vacs that are like minivans and buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an automobile. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system captures allergens, and then releases fresh air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpet to collect large particles and fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back again.

This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also provides easy access to 2 attachments as well as the Wand. This is a big improvement over the older Dysons, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.

The V10's biggest drawback is its sluggish run time. As CR's tests show, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is a typical not an extraordinary time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. It's still enough time to get rid of the majority of an average-sized house, but not quite long enough to clean every spot (though the second time around usually will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeably superior for carpet floors with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a standard robot vacuum that's an excellent choice for those who don't have a lot of money to invest in a robot. It could pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area several times to ensure an efficient clean. Its flat front end helps it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice feature.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models such as our top choices, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it often will run out of battery before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses and has more advanced automation capabilities and can better move its own. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries strips that can be controlled using the voice assistant on your smartphone. It is also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on floors with low pile and bare.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
