Robots that clean and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning dry debris and wet mess in one time without the need to switch between devices. They can also save space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, replenish their water tanks and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. Its mops spin at high speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum comes with four power modes, a selection of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app that lets you pick the type of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.

For instance, you can ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the spare bedroom alone. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It is able to recognize small obstacles that other models are unable to. The only problem is that it is known to smash into walls and objects at a high speed. However, a quick look at the history of cleaning in the app will show you exactly what the robot completed, where it's moving, and what obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's top-of-the-line robot vacuum and mop is the newest version. The model this year has two agitators built into its mopping pad. This increases the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to remove small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners might overlook.

As with the other two Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by adding a dual camera which can recognize objects and determine whether they are a wall or another surface. It then can automatically alter its path and clean them without skipping a beat.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed, but it's also the most packed with features. Its sleek, angular design is eye catching and only has three physical buttons. The power button, which also restarts the cleaning mop button, which doubles as a child-lock, and a home-button to take the robot Vacuum cleaners Best to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml tank of water. The water tank automatically empties and the bin automatically refills.

The only issue I have discovered with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. It is possible to replace the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've noticed that any plush carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which could cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can set up and manage these via the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app allows you to schedule cleanings, track the battery life and maintain your components. However, you'll have to go through a few hoops to enable voice control on this model which is a pity considering how well it performs otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's one of the most expensive on the market, but it packs in a lot of extra features that distinguish it from. Smart DuoScrub, a new feature in its mops, uses two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a suction force of 7,000Pa. This is more than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also remove pet hair, dirt particles, and clean up spills and soiled spots.

The mops are also dried and cleaned inside the base station after every use. This is a great feature because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from building up in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we've yet to see on other robot vacuum and mop models and could be a good method to keep your home clean for longer.

There's a wealth of settings available, including the ability to schedule cleaning and adjust a number of different preferences.
