Keyless Entry System
The key fob comes with an internal chip that lets it communicate with the receiver module inside your vehicle. It's possible that, if the key fob suddenly stops working, the internal chip has been damaged. This could happen if you drop the key fob on the ground, or if you've tried to use an alternative key fob and it doesn't work. If the battery remains active, you can begin your vehicle by pressing the "Start button" on the key fob.
If the key fob is working it will send an alert to the receiver module, telling it which trunk or door is open. The module will then open the correct trunk or door so that you can start and get inside the car. By pressing the button on the remote control, you are able to lock or unlock the car. Certain systems are smart enough to recognize the driver's specific fob, and then automatically lock once they leave the vehicle.

Transponder Chip Key
The transponder chip key is an automotive security device that transmits a unique code to the vehicle's immobilizer when it's put into the ignition. The immobilizer then stops the vehicle's fuel pump, starter motor and any other system which would otherwise permit it to run it wasn't for the chip's identification code.
The key is made of steel with a plastic cap which houses the transponder. To remove the key from the ignition, it's best to make use of pliers or a screwdriver to get enough leverage to unlock the lock. Once the key's been removed, the user will be able to see and take off the chip - it looks like a small black square or a transparent tube. The chip is then put on a piece of tape, and connected to the ignition lock in close proximity to the barrel that is used for ignition.

They can also program a different chip key for your automobile and reprogramme the immobilizer so that it recognizes the key.
