A robot vacuum can keep your floors tidy enough to cut down on the frequency of hoovering manually. Choose one that has an easy navigation, can sweep corners and stairs, and has a large dust bin that has to be emptied only once in a while.

There are models that mop and charge themselves, which is a feature that is essential for families with pets or children. A majority of the top performers in our tests have great obstacles to avoid.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it fills up.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they're very adept in getting around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. The i3+ does not feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we test. It can get stuck on power cords or socks, and may have trouble navigating between surfaces, such as carpet and hardwood.

iRobot suggests that you clear areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it may come across. It is also recommended to keep the filters and dust bin clear to avoid becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is filled or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station and automatically empties its trash into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model of the flagship line from iRobot, and it comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most crucial feature of all -- it has an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba I7+ can make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or voice.

The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin, which removes major maintenance sources and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines and to move around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. When connected we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and look like minivans or buses, this tiny Dyson model is an automobile. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in most homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. Its specialized head uses stiff nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and collect large dust or crumbs. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It is able to quickly change from floor vacuum to handheld remote vacuum cleaner and vice versa.

The model also comes with docks that charge to 100% in about 3.5 hours and provides easy access to two attachments and the wand clip. This is a significant improvement over the older Dysons, which require a lengthy charge and are a pain to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its sluggish run time. The claims of its marketing that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a typical and not a remarkable time to run an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. It's enough time to sweep the average-sized home but not enough to reach every area. (A second time generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

One of the most well-known robot vacuums, the 694 is an affordable model that's a great option for those who don't want to spend too much money on a robot. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes during our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times to ensure an efficient clean smart robot. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it lacks the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top Rated robot vacuum (estive.net) picks and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects in that it has fewer components that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is better at moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin, and charges more quickly.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also comes with physical boundaries and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's no surprise, then, that they are also among the top producers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app gives you plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, such as virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior modification docking frequency settings and more. The app is easy to use and understand similar to other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and removed 86% of dog hair (on carpet). It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we tried which could be a deal-breaker for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum comes with an onboard camera that is accessible via the app, and you can also set up a live streaming from the robot's cleaning station. This feature lets you check in on your children or pets when you're away. The filter and the dust bin are washable for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ also comes with a clean and tidy station that's self-emptying, which helps keep the robot's trash bin clean and maximizes suction power for each cleaning run.

6. Black & Decker robot vacuum cleaner quiet Vacuum

Unlike other robotic vacuum cleaner best vacuums, which are designed for both carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path as well as a large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than competitors to keep the cleaning area clear for maximum runtime. In addition, they have two side sweepers that clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it's cleaning up dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. The vacuum also has an app that allows you to view the virtual map, manage functions, and create schedules. You can also check the status of the vacuum and connect it to its dock for charging at the touch of a single button. The app also allows you to customize the lights on top of the vacuum using different colors, so that you can clearly see the areas where it's focused or where it's got stuck.

The app makes it possible to manually steer the robot, if necessary. My living room rug for instance has a dark-colored border that can trip up some other robots. The HRV 425BL, however continued to travel across the border without ever registering the high point. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving convenience.
