1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those looking for an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin when it is full.

Both robots do well picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they're excellent at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we test the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might come across. Also, keep the dustbin and filter clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. If the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station and automatically empties its trash into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning the area where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

2. iRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most crucial feature of all -- it has self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the most important sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it identify rooms to clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot using voice or through the app.

The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though the dust bin is self cleaning vacuum-emptying, which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions and also to move around the room, and even auto vacuum cleaner a specific area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was simple and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car in a world of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide energy that lasts for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpet to suck up large particles and fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It can quickly switch from handheld to floor vacuum and vice versa.

The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments as well as a Wand clip. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. Its marketing claims that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a typical and not a remarkable time to run a battery-powered cordless vac. This is enough time to sweep the average-sized home but not enough to reach every area. (A second time generally works). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is significantly better on low-pile floor carpet.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums The 694 is a basic model that's an excellent choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up most kinds of debris in our tests, and often passes over the same areas many times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach corners and the edges of walls.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top choices and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It may get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its home base.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It's not surprising that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic vacuum cleaner deals cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings and more. The app is simple to use and understand as are other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it removed 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). The app allows you to manually steer the robot when needed. For instance, my living Room cleaning robot rug has a darkly colored border that can make it difficult for other robots I've tested. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, without registering it as an incline. Also, the ability to program weekly cleaning schedules is a fantastic time-saving feature.
