Private ADHD Titration
There is a nationwide shortage of medication that helps to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due both to manufacturing issues and an increased demand in the world.
Our service provides
private ADHD titration instead of waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees cover the cost of a single prescription.
Titration
A highly skilled consultant psychiatrist will conduct a thorough evaluation of your ADHD. This includes a thorough medical history, as well as an evaluation using the typical ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.
After your assessment After your assessment, you will be informed if medication would be beneficial for your situation. This will be discussed during your follow-up appointment (which can take place in person, by video link or by phone). Your doctor will explain what medication options are available and, if you decide to start on medication we will recommend titrating dosage to ensure the benefits/side effects balance for you.
This process can take a few weeks and requires gradually altering your child's medication until the proper balance has been achieved. It's not uncommon to to titrate up to three different medicines until you discover the one that is most suitable for your child's ADHD. Parents must participate in this
titration adhd medications process and keep an watchful eye on their child's behavior so that they can inform the doctor whether the medication is working or causing adverse effects.
If you decide to return to NHS treatment, you will receive an individual prescription for your medication. You will be required to pay the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation fee. You will need to attend six-monthly appointments to check your medications. This includes the measurement of pulse and blood pressure. Annual checks are also required.
Follow-up appointments
Once the assessment has been completed you will be able to make follow up appointments with your psychiatrist, if appropriate. Typically, the appointment will take place on zoom video call, although in certain cases it is possible to schedule an audio-only consultation (again at an extra cost).
In this session, we'll discuss any treatment options and decide on a custom-made ADHD medication
titration for adhd plan. This will include an assessment of your medication dosage as well as a discussion of any possible negative side effects you may be experiencing. These titration sessions cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions, and PS60 by video or phone consultation. The pharmacy will be charged for any cost of medication.
The psychiatrist will ask you questions regarding your family history as well as the impact of your ADHD symptoms on your life, and any mental health issues that you may be experiencing. This is because ADHD can be a genetic disorder and it is crucial that we assess any family history that could indicate that you're at risk of developing the disorder.
It is crucial that you are honest and open to the doctor during this assessment, as the information they get will be used to determine if your ADHD fits the diagnostic criteria. This is a crucial step in the process, as failing to do so could result in an incorrect diagnosis and therefore inappropriate prescribing of medication.
If you've decided you'd like to receive treatment for your ADHD, we will then set up a follow-up appointment with one of our psychiatrists that specialize in this area. If you want to start treatment right away, you can do this at the time of diagnosis. You can also take two weeks to consider the implications of the diagnosis and what options you have.
We suggest that if you are unsure about your preferences, you speak with your GP prior to booking your private appointment. Certain providers have different policies regarding whether they require an GP letter. Make sure that your GP accepts a Shared Care Agreement, which means you will be referred to them once you leave the clinic to get a prescriptions for medication.
Medication
Medication is an integral aspect of the treatment process for many who are looking for an official ADHD diagnosis. Getting prescriptions from an NHS psychiatrist can be difficult and lengthy. NHS waiting lists can be extremely long, and GPs might be reluctant to refer patients to specialist services.
One method to circumvent this is to request your GP to refer you through Right to Choose (see psychiatry-uk and ADHD 360). You can pick a provider that offers a
private adhd medication titration assessment service and the titration. This will cut down your waiting time by a significant amount and is more convenient if you're working and have a hectic schedule.
If you are recommended, your physician will assess your condition to determine if you need medication titration. You'll need to fill out forms that vary by doctor, but the most common ones are self-reporting questionnaires and medical histories going to childhood and adulthood. These forms will help your clinician determine if there are reasons that suggest that you shouldn't be taking ADHD medication, in the event that they've been prescribed.
If you are titrated, the medication will consist of stimulants and non-stimulant drugs. These will be carefully trialled and monitored to determine the most effective combination for you, taking into consideration any current conditions you suffer from. The titration process may be lengthy and may need a few extra appointments before you're stable on your dosage.
The frequency of your follow-up appointments is contingent on the type and amount of medication you're taking. They can be monthly or quarterly. Your clinician will check whether you are safe with the medication, note any side effects you've experienced, and make any needed adjustments to ensure that you remain on a dose that is safe. You are required to attend an annual health check-up and routine health examination which includes blood pressure, pulse, and weight measurements.

Some people may be satisfied with their medication, and don't require discussing their titration process further. If you're looking to discuss your titration plan or treatment plan in more detail, it is possible that you will be referred back to the private doctor who performed your initial assessment. In this scenario the titration is included in the consultation cost. The medication will be given via the private prescription. This could cost more than prescriptions from the NHS, as the pharmacy will charge you for the medication.
