The
Best robot vacuum cleaner UK Robot
automatic hooverThe best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.
Make sure you regularly examine the brushes of your robot for tangled hair as well as large debris and wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the
best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.
For larger houses it's recommended to choose models with spot or zone
cleaning robot mop and vacuum modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a particular area of your house via the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you own a lot furniture. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
