Safety
A
bedside baby sleeper cot can be described as a bassinet which is attached to the bed's side for safe cosleeping. It can be used to bring your baby towards you to provide comfort, feed or to help soothe them at night. It's also an excellent option if you have had a c section. It's different from a Moses basket or cot due to the fact that it has high sides, so your baby isn't able to fall out. Some models come with a tilt feature that can help babies with colic and reflux. They are also a bit larger than Moses baskets, which makes them easier to move from room room.
The NHS and The Lullaby Trust, a safe sleep charity, suggest that infants be placed in a bassinet or cot that is in the same room as their parents. They should not be sleeping in your bed. Sharing a bed increases the risk of overheating or suffocation. Bedside cribs allow your child to sleep close to you but in a secure and separate space.
When choosing a bedside crib, check that it meets the most recent safety standards (it should be BS EN 1130:2019) and does not have any gaps or parts that could cause your baby to get trapped. Choose a mattress that has a flat, firm surface. A mattress that is sagging or that is too soft can increase the risk of SIDS for your baby.
Look for bedding that is well-fitted and does not have pillows or blankets that are loose. Pillows pose a risk of suffocation and duvets can be a hazard on the baby's face. It's best to use a fitted sheet instead but ensure it fits properly.
Our MFM mom testers have discovered that the SnuzPod4 is an excellent option for a crib that is positioned near the bed, being shortlisted for the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards in the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket category. It is also an excellent choice for those who have narrow or small beds because it doesn't take up any space.
Design
The layout of a bedside crib is crucial as it will be the area where your baby will spend the majority of their time. There are many cribs available in a range of colors that match your decor. Some cribs have features such as mesh windows to keep the
baby bedside co sleeper visible or drop-down sides to make it easier to access. Some cribs come with incline features to help with reflux.
Most cribs can also be lowered and raised to fit the height of your bed, making it easy to get into and out of the bed at night. Some cribs can serve as travel cots. This is a great option when you're traveling or visiting relatives.
Leya is an MFM mother and home tester, realized that the SnuzPod 4 was a great choice for her bedroom. She also loved its compact fold, which helped save space. She also liked that the crib's one side is lowered, allowing her to take her newborn baby to bed without having to leave her bed. This is particularly helpful when you've been through a Caesarean or are recovering after one. You can stay near your baby for longer.
Another mom who loved using the SnuzPod 4 was Jasmine who said that it was simple to move from room to room, something she didn't discover with other cribs for bedside that she tried. However, she did notice that the handle was a bit stiff and it took an enormous amount of effort to raise the crib.

The neutral colors and slim frame will fit in with most bedrooms. However some of our testers found that the bars were too close together. This could cause them to get caught on baby toys or clothes. The distance between the bars should not exceed 6.5cm (2.5 inches) to ensure your baby's head doesn't get caught in. This crib is also suitable for babies suffering from reflux as the ComfortAir air-tight system helps regulate body temperature.
Comfort
Staying close to your baby throughout the night will give you peace of mind, however, you need to be in a position to be able to get them quickly to feed them in the middle of the night. It is easy to do this without having to get out of bed with a crib right at your bedside. They also make it easier to soothe babies back to sleep. However, if you want to lay down with your baby but don't like the idea of getting out of bed for every feeding A moses basket is the better option.
