The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots that vacuum and mop also come with the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm is great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant, circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our tests. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's loud, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, although it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum that mops vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also comes with a feature known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to set up an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
