Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to improve their weapons and equipment with new affixes that boost its base stats or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Typically items that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra impact when the equipment is used. They can be bought from vendors, retrieved in loot from enemies, or received from chests and missions. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a specific level to upgrade.

To upgrade an item of armor, the user must choose it and click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade statistics and the components or materials required for the upgrade.

There are three types of upgrade components: universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type limitation. Infusions are only placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding a Glyph to the Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would change it to a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If the player upgrades their gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs with a different one the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace any other upgrade component, it will be destroyed, with the exception for the inscriptions, which can be swapped freely.

Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before they're "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up however the materials required do not increase as much. This lets players focus their efforts on a handful of key items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several items.

When an item is leveled out and is leveled out, it will be capable of receiving a new set of upgrade components, as well as an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This procedure can take as long as two hours and will cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower chance of success.

Engineers will utilize a level to compare the height of the building to a known location, such as an existing benchmark. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and the level, then turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that structures are built to an extremely high degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is a vital aspect of the game and can significantly improve an item's strength or damage, as well as other characteristics. Sets

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item and the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The attributes of the item will be displayed as well as any necessary items. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also look up the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

In general, weapons and jewelry offer better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with weapons-damage or spell glyphs.
